Tesla Motors (TSLA -19.3%) rises 6.6% AH, rebounding a bit from the bloodletting it saw after it was reported its chief engineer and vehicle/chassis engineering chief are leaving. Given that Tesla lacks the scale of larger automakers, the quality of its engineering (responsible for the exceptional range of its electric cars) is crucial to its ability to carve out a niche.

Walter Energy Inc. (WLT) said it estimates that fourth quarter 2011 financial results were below the low end of its prior guidance.Met coal sales volume and production in the fourth quarter of 2011 were both approximately 2.4 million metric tons. Similarly, for the full year 2011 met coal sales volume matched the above-mentioned actual annual production rate of approximately 8.7 million metric tons.Shares -2.8% AH

Celanese (CE) says it will increase list and off-list selling prices for a number of its chemical products, including acetate acid, vinyl acetate monomer, ethyl acetate, and butyl acetate, effective January 15. Shares -0.2% AH

Kemet (KEM) -4.6% AH after lowering FQ3 revenue guidance to $217M-$219M vs. previous estimates of $228M-$238M and $232M consensus. The company says FQ3 order intake was up slightly over FQ2, and believes its market share remains unchanged.

Stock Alert -Walter Energy (WLT) Cuts FY12 Coal Production Outlook - 1/13/12

Walter Energy Inc. (WLT) said that it is resetting the range of expected met coal production in 2012 for a number of reasons, including the inherent risks of the mining business and slightly lower expectations from some of the startup developmental projects like the Aberpergwm mine in Wales. The new projected growth of 11.5 to 13 million metric tons compares with prior expectations for 2012 of 13 to 14 million metric tons of met coal.

The company said it estimates that fourth quarter 2011 financial results were below the low end of its prior guidance.

S&P ratings cuts Germany, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Estonia - 1/13/12

S&P ratings cuts: Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Cyprus are slashed by 2 notches. Austria, Malta, Slovakia, and Slovenia are cut one notch. Having their ratings affirmed: Germany, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Estonia.

More from S&P: The agency faults the EU for focusing too much on cutting budgets and not recognizing the issues "are as much a consequence of rising external imbalances and divergences in competitiveness between the (core and the periphery)," i.e. Italian, Spanish, and Greek labor can't compete with Germany.

Molycorp Inc. (MCP)-  Molycorp (MCP) was up week last week.New support located at $23 and resistance area is $30. Share of  Molcorp (MCP) trade under $30 November which is good for 1/2 long my position for 2012, I am long for 2nd  half go long for low $23s. I believe that stock could see $50 stock next 12 months.This is my one of the Top Pick for 2012.

United States Steel Corp (X)-Share of United States Steel Corp X is trading near $18-$27 last few weeks.Share of United State Steel trading low 20s  last part of the year 2011 which area I am long side now. X is a strong buy below $20 for the long term.United States Steel Corp will now have support at $14 which is a long term support level.United State Steel is a strong buy below $20 any market correction in coming days.But stock will stay this range long time but low risk stock.I am looking for next 12 months $40-$50 price target. This is my one of the Top Pick for 2012.

JA Solar (JASO), Shutterfly (SFLY), Tesco (TESO), Akamai Technologies (AKAM), Beacon Roofing Supply (BECN) and PulteGroup (PHM) were upgraded or downgraded by analysts.

JA Solar (JASO) was downgraded by Raymond James (NYSE:RJF) from a "Market Perform" rating to an Underperform" rating.

Shutterfly (SFLY) was downgraded by Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) from an "Overweight" rating to an "Equal Weight" rating.

Tesco (TESO) was downgraded by Credit Suisse (NYSE:CS) from an "Outperform" rating to a "Neutral" rating.

Akamai Technologies (AKAM) was downgraded by DA Davidson from a "Buy" rating to a "Neutral" rating. They have a price target of $36.00 on the company.

Beacon Roofing Supply (BECN) was downgraded by Suntrust (NYSE:STI) fomr a "Buy" rating to a "Neutral" rating.

PulteGroup (PHM) was downgraded by Guggenheim from a "Buy" rating to a "Neutral" rating.
