Tesla Motors (TSLA -19.3%) rises 6.6% AH, rebounding a bit from the bloodletting it saw after it was reported its chief engineer and vehicle/chassis engineering chief are leaving. Given that Tesla lacks the scale of larger automakers, the quality of its engineering (responsible for the exceptional range of its electric cars) is crucial to its ability to carve out a niche.
Walter Energy Inc. (WLT) said it estimates that fourth quarter 2011 financial results were below the low end of its prior guidance.Met coal sales volume and production in the fourth quarter of 2011 were both approximately 2.4 million metric tons. Similarly, for the full year 2011 met coal sales volume matched the above-mentioned actual annual production rate of approximately 8.7 million metric tons.Shares -2.8% AH
Celanese (CE) says it will increase list and off-list selling prices for a number of its chemical products, including acetate acid, vinyl acetate monomer, ethyl acetate, and butyl acetate, effective January 15. Shares -0.2% AH
Kemet (KEM) -4.6% AH after lowering FQ3 revenue guidance to $217M-$219M vs. previous estimates of $228M-$238M and $232M consensus. The company says FQ3 order intake was up slightly over FQ2, and believes its market share remains unchanged.
