- European shares and U.S. stock futures follow Asian equities higher following sharp gains on Wall Street yesterday and prior to the release of U.S. nonfarm payroll data today.
- It's hard to predict what impact the figures might have on markets: if they're too good, they could increase the chances of more Fed tapering, which may have already contributed to the volatility in markets this year; if the data isn't good enough, it will add to doubts about the strength of the U.S. recovery - as was the case with manufacturing figures earlier this week - and that could cause volatility too.
- Euro Stoxx 50 -0.1%, London +0.2%, Paris +0.1%, Frankfurt +0.2%, Madrid +0.3%, Milan -0.1%.
- U.S. stock futures: Dow +0.2%. S&P +0.3%. Nasdaq +0.5%
