U.S. futures turn lower after ECB -12/3/15
U.S.
futures turn lower after ECB
The ECB earlier cut its deposit rate to 0.3%, and Mario
Draghi later announced an extension in the time period for QE to March 2017.
Markets had been hoping for an actual expansion in the amount of bond-buying
each month, but got just the extension instead.
Stocks in Europe are tanking, with
the Stoxx 50 - in the green ahead of the ECB - now lower by 2.8%.
Also in the green earlier this morning, U.S.
stock index futures are now down about 0.25%.

- The panic in mainland markets is also rippling across the border, knocking Hong Kong down 4.7% and Japan down 3%.

- Economists estimate that U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by 210,000 in April after increasing 192,000 in March, while the unemployment rate fell to 6.6% from 6.7%.

They don't want to get caught out twice, so they are hedging their positions." The numbers should also give a better idea about how much the severe winter affected the economy in the early months of the year.
