- Global equities are mainly in the green on the last trading day of what has been a banner year for many markets, with many investors believing that the good times are set to continue.
- "There is almost a complacency about next year and how well it could go," says asset allocator Hans Peterson. "There is still abundant liquidity even if the Fed started to taper and I think that is still the main theme."
- Not sharing in the fun were stocks in China amid concerns about the economy and soaring debt. The Shanghai Composite fell 6.8% in 2013, the third decline in four years, although the index closed the day +0.9%, while the Hang Seng rose 0.3%.
- In Europe, some markets are already closed for the year, while others are finishing early. London is +0.3% and Paris +0.25%.
- U.S. stock futures: Dow flat. S&P +0.1%. Nasdaq +0.05%
