Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, South Korea’s Kospi -1.11% dropped 1.4%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 -0.08% retreated by 0.5%. The Japanese share markets were closed Monday for a holiday.
U.S. shares ended mostly lower on Friday, with investors looking past some upbeat U.S. employment data after Italian bond yields rose back over the 7% mark, and the euro dropped below $1.27 for the first time since September 2010. See report on U.S. stock moves Friday.
The common currency-0.03% remained below $1.27 in Asia on Monday, trading at $1.2688, according to FactSet data.
