oil prices have been
surging recently, and there is little
sign that the momentum will be
slowing down. Every time crude oil
reaches these types of elevated levels,
it seems that interest in
alternative forms of energy also rise.
Solar is one type of alternative energy
that gets particular attention, and
should be on investors' radar going
into 2012.
Canadian Solar's (CSIQ) Q4
results: Gross margin was 5% vs. 2.2% in Q3 and 8.7% in Q4 2011. Solar
module shipments were 404 MW vs. 384 MW in Q3 and 436 MW in the year-ago period.
Expects Q1 shipments of 290-310 MW, with gross margin of 8%-10%; expects 2013
shipments of 1.6-1.8 GW. Shares -3.5% premarket.
