Europe market closing price: Headline shares ended the day lower, with miners and banks helping to drag the main index lower and the market unable to secure any support from Wall Street after disappointing US manufacturing data.

At the close of business, the FTSE100 was down 22.03 points at 5,893.52 with the FTSE250 off 35.24 points at 12,080.88 and the FTSE Smallcaps 4.94 points higher at 3,231.32.
