Citigroup Inc. (C) rose 2.9 percent to $34.38 and climbed 3.9 percent earlier, the most intraday since March 19. The third-biggest U.S. bank said first-quarter trading revenue rebounded from the fourth quarter.
Denbury Resources Inc. (DNR) added 2.5 percent to $18.36 after climbing as much as 6 percent, the most intraday since Feb. 23. The Plano, Texas-based oil and natural-gas producer said it expects to buy back $250 million shares this year.
Edelman Financial Group Inc. (EF) rallied 41 percent to $8.73 for the biggest intraday increase since March 2001. The wealth management company agreed to be acquired by Lee Equity Partners LLC for $8.85 a share.
