Barnes & Noble (BKS) +1.8% AH after shareholder G Asset Management offers to buy 51% of the company's college bookstore business for $460M. The business, which B&N bought for $596M in 2009, is a cash cow, but its sales fell 3% Y/Y in the January quarter, as online competition begins to have an impact
UnitedHealth (UNH) +2.2% AH after Bloomberg reports the company has received a $20.5B healthcare services contract from the Pentagon.
Schnitzer Steel (SCHN) lowers FQ2 guidance, now expecting to earn $0.28 - $0.35 per share, below Street consensus of $0.55. The company notes however, that while volatile pricing trends resulted in margin compression in the first half of FY12, long-term global demand for recycled steel continues to be strong.
Dunkin' Brands (DNKN) -1.4% AH after disclosing insiders - primarily P-E firms Bain Capital, Carlyle, and Thomas H. Lee - will be selling 22M shares (18% of all outstanding shares) through a secondary offering that will occur in Q2. Following the sale, Bain, Carlyle, and Thomas H. Lee will each own a 12.5% stake in Dunkin, down from a current 18.4%.
Pacific Drilling (PACD) announces its wholly-owned subsidiary has exercised an option to construct an ultra-deepwater drillship with Samsung Heavy Industries. The total cost, excluding capitalized interest, will be approximately $600M and delivery is scheduled for May 2014. Shares -0.6% AH
