Biggest Stock Gainers 1/30/12 January 30, 2012

During regular trading hours, there were many stocks that continued to break up to the upside. These stocks are usually going up  with news.If you are looking to day trade today, you might want to check out the following stocks. Below is a list of some of the story stocks to watch for January 30, 2011 

Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AMLN) and Alkermes Inc. (ALKS) : The drugmakers succeeded in their third attempt to gain U.S. clearance for Bydureon, a once-weekly version of Amylin’s diabetes shot. The Food and Drug Administration approved the drug for adults with Type 2 diabetes.

Amylin surged 15 percent to $13.92. Alkermes rose 1 percent to $19.29.

Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack (PBY) surged 23 percent to $14.88. The Philadelphia-based automotive retailer agreed to be acquired by Gores Group for $1 billion including debt. The cash offer of $15 a share is 24 percent higher than Pep Boys’ closing price on Jan. 27.

Thomas & Betts Corp. (TNB ) surged 23 percent to $71.17. ABB Ltd. agreed to buy the designer and maker of electrical components for $3.9 billion to expand its North American distribution network and boost sales of low-voltage gear.

US Airways Group Inc. (LCC) advanced 5.7 percent to $8.65. Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL US) is weighing whether to make an offer for the smallest full-service domestic carrier, people familiar with the matter said.
