Biggest Stock (CHK, COG, MFN, SINA) Gainers 1/23/12 January 23, 2012

Below is a list of some of the story stocks to watch for January 23, 2011 

Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. (CETV) rose 4.3 percent to $7.09. The television broadcaster’s Chief Executive Officer Adrian Sarbu said 2011 Oibda, or operating income before depreciation and amortization, rose 60 percent from a year earlier.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. (CHK) advanced 7.2 percent to $22.47. The most active U.S. oil and natural-gas driller said it will reduce its dry gas drilling rig count to 24 rigs from 47 by the second quarter in response to lower gas prices and forecast net leasehold costs will fall to $1.4 billion in 2012 from $3.4 billion last year.

Cabot Oil & Gas Corp. (COG US) gained 6.5 percent to $65.10, Range Resources Corp. (RRC) added 5.6 percent to $57.06, and Southwestern Energy Co. (SWN) jumped 7.4 percent to $31.61.

Minefinders Corp. (MFN) surged 26 percent to $14.28. The operator of the Dolores gold and silver mine in Mexico agreed on a C$1.5 billion ($1.49 billion) takeover by Pan American Silver Corp. (PAA) , a 36 percent premium to Minefinders’ Jan. 20 closing share price in Toronto.
