A Chicago-based investment group is acquiring a media group that includes the Sun-Times, according to a report on the newspaper's website. Financial terms weren't disclosed, but a source said the transaction took place for more than $20 million, according to the report. The buyers include Michael Ferro Jr., chairman of Merrick Ventures LLC, and they are taking over the media group from the current owners, who purchased it out of bankruptcy. Ferro, who will serve as chairman of the media group following the transaction, is bringing in media executive Timothy Knight to run the company as chief executive, the report said.
