Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (BRCD) rose 2.5 percent to $4.59. The maker of switches for data-storage networks reported fourth-quarter earnings of 16 cents a share, exceeding the 10-cent average analyst estimate.
Cheniere Energy Inc. (LNG) jumped 8.1 percent to $12.41. The liquefied natural-gas importer said it has a 20-year sale agreement to sell Gas Natural Fenosa 3.5 million metric tons of LNG per year.
Focus Media Holding Ltd. (FMCN) gained 11 percent to $17.07. The Shanghai-based advertising network denied allegations from short seller Carson Block, saying a report that drove the shares down 39 percent yesterday reflects a misunderstanding of the company’s business.
Genesco Inc. (GCO) rose 6.2 percent to $59.58. The owner of Journeys and Johnston & Murphy shoe stores reported third- quarter earnings excluding some items of $1.21 a share, beating the average analyst estimate by 26 percent, according to Bloomberg data. The Nashville, Tennessee-based company boosted its full year earnings outlook to at least $3.64 a share from at most $3.42 a share.
