- Thanks to the acquisition of Tumblr and its 300M+ monthly unique visitors (worldwide), Yahoo (YHOO) is sitting atop comScore's rankings for the top 50 U.S. Web properties for the first time since March '08.
- comScore estimates Yahoo had 196.6M U.S. unique visitors in July, up from 188.7M in June. #2 Google is estimated to have pulled in 192.2M U.S. uniques, down fractionally M/M.
- In most international markets, Google's active user base is considerably larger than Yahoo's. Japan is a notable exception, if one counts Yahoo Japan (33% stake).
- Separately, BuzzFeed reports Yahoo is talking with Foursquare about a deal to access the startup's location check-in data. Foursquare has tallied ~4B check-ins over its lifetime, and has also amassed plenty of user ratings data.
- That information that could both improve the quality of Yahoo's local search results and services, and (if linked to Yahoo accounts) assist with local ad targeting.
- A source states the value of Foursquare's data has grown following the Google/Waze deal. 50K+ developers already access Foursquare's API.
