- The Shanghai Composite is flat in early trading on the heels of data showing China's services sector expanded at a modest pace in July.
- Stocks in Hong Kong are higher by 0.2%, the Kospi and the ASX are down 0.2% each, and the Nikkei is notably weaker, off 1.12% in Tokyo.
- The HSBC/Markit China services sector PMI prints at 51.3 for July, in line with June's reading.
- The "official" non-manufacturing PMI (i.e. the one that comes from the Chinese government) came in at 54.1 for the month, up from 53.9 in June.
- Last week, HSBC's final reading on Chinese manufacturing showed the sector contracting last month, while the government's figure registered a slight expansion
