FreightCar America Inc. (RAIL) surged 6.1 percent to $22.02 and climbed 16 percent earlier, the most intraday since Feb. 17. The maker of railroad freight cars reported earnings excluding some items of 76 cents per share, beating the average analyst estimate of 39 cents, data compiled by Bloomberg show.
Generac Holdings Inc. (GNRC) rallied 28 percent to $29.48 for the biggest intraday gain since it went public in February 2010. The generator maker proposed a one-time dividend of as much as $10 a share upon the completion of a debt financing.
Grand Canyon Education Inc. (LOPE) rose 17 percent to $18.81 and climbed 18 percent earlier, the most intraday since Aug. 5. The for-profit college forecast earnings in 2012 will be at least $1.24 a share, beating the average analyst estimate of $1.21.
