Canadian Solar (CSIQ) raises Q4 estimates, expecting solar module shipments of 430-440 MW against previous guidance of 340-360 MW, and against actual shipments of 287 MW in Q2 and 355 MW in Q3. The bump reflects stronger-than-expected demand from customers and the company still estimates gross margins to be 5-8%. Shares +9.6% AH.
Solar-panel maker Yingli Green Energy (YGE) lowers its forecast for Q4 shipments and gross margins, and says it will record $361M in impairment charges and an inventory provision amid difficult solar market conditions. It now expects PV module shipments to fall 30% versus its previous forecast of around a 20% decline, and its gross margin will be approximately 3%, down from its previous estimate of 10%.
