As a measure of the level of a diffusion index based on surveyed purchasing managers in the manufacturing industry, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, China’s Manufacturing PMI came in weaker than expected at 49.0 in November versus 50.4 in October; economists correctly anticipated a decline, but to only 49.8. Any reading under 50 signals contraction in the manufacturing industry.
