Research In Motion (RIMM) this afternoon reported fiscal Q2 revenue and earnings per share below expectations, but forecast the current quarter’s revenue above consensus, while EPS is expected to come in lighter than analysts expect.Research In Motion (RIMM) FQ2 EPS of $0.80 misses by $0.07. Revenue of $4.17B (-10% Y/Y) misses by $300M. Company expects FQ3 revenue of $5.3B-$5.6B and EPS of $1.20-$1.40, compared with consensus of $5.27B and $1.36. Expects FY12 EPS at low end of prior range of $5.25-$6.00, but above $5.10 consensus. RIMM -17.5% AH.
It reported lower units than expected, disappointing gross profit margin, and said margin will decline again this quarter.
Revenue for the three months ended in August fell 10% to $4.17 billion, yielding EPS of 80 cents.That was at the low end of the company’s forecast of $4.2 billion to $4.8 billion and 75 cents to $1.05.
